Triple title at racing speed
江苏11选5基本走势图The Audi RS 5 DTM fielded in 2019 conforms to the Class 1 regulations. Its highly efficient two-litre inline-four engine with an exhaust-driven turbocharger and petrol direct injection, which is analogous to the production TFSI concept, delivers more than 610 horsepower (450 kW). Audi put a total of eight Audi RS 5 DTM on the grid during the DTM season: two each as part of its factory-backed commitment with its long-standing German fielding partners, Abt Sportsline, Phoenix and Rosberg, and two others with the WRT customer team from Belgium that has joined the series this year.
In the 18 DTM races in 2019, Audi scored twelve victories. After just 14 races, the brand had been confirmed as manufacturers’ champion, after 16 events René Rast had secured the drivers’ championship and after 17 Audi Sport Team Rosberg was the best squad. Having scored seven victories and eight pole positions, the German in his third DTM season was again the most successful Audi driver. The 2017 Champion clinched his second title in commanding and consistent style. His fiercest rival was fellow Audi driver Nico Müller. The Swiss won three races and in his most successful DTM season finished the drivers’ championship runner-up.
How Audi drove to the three DTM titles at racing speed in 2019 – here’s the timeline:
HOCKENHEIM SEASON OPENER
RACE 03 (SATURDAY, 18 MAY)
Like most other front-running drivers, René Rast (second on the grid) becomes the victim of an early safety car period: unlike the mid-fielders, he is unable to pit early and, as a result, loses a lot of ground later. His fightback to the third spot is stopped by the defective intercooler of his Audi RS 5 DTM: DNF. The best Audi driver is Nico Müller in third position.
Drivers’ classification: 1 Wittmann (BMW); 43 pts
Manufacturers’ classification: 1 Audi; 155 pts
Teams’ classification: 1 Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline; 68 pts
RACE 04 (SUNDAY, 19 MAY)
An engine change and overtime put in by the mechanics and engineers from Audi Sport Team Rosberg pan out well: their driver René Rast first clinches second position on the grid and subsequently wins the race. Although a safety car period causes the German’s advantage to shrink, Rast stays in control when the race is re-started – and safely brings home his second victory of the season.
Drivers’ classification: 1 Eng (BMW); 59 pts
Manufacturers’ classification: 1 Audi; 213 pts
Teams’ classification: 1 Audi Sport Team Rosberg; 79 pts
RACE 07 (SATURDAY, 6 JULY)
With an advantage of nearly 35 seconds, René Rast achieves his third victory of the season in spite of having dropped to last place after the start. The 2017 champ had stalled the turbo engine of his Audi RS 5 DTM. After pitting early just shortly before a safety car period, Rast is back within striking distance. As the runner-up, Nico Müller perfects Audi’s one-two result.
Drivers’ classification: 1 Rast (Audi); 118 pts
Manufacturers’ classification: 1 Audi; 398 pts
Teams’ classification: 1 Audi Sport Team Rosberg; 153 pts
RACE 08 (SUNDAY, 7 JULY)
First and second in qualifying: Rast and Müller start side by side. On lap one, they unfortunately make contact. Rast spins, Müller is handed a drive-through penalty. The two have to settle for seventh and eighth. The best Audi driver: Norisring expert Jamie Green (2) ahead of fellow Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller (3). The winner: Bruno Spengler (BMW).
Drivers’ classification: 1 Rast (Audi); 127 pts
Manufacturers’ classification: 1 Audi; 457 pts
Teams’ classification:江苏11选5基本走势图 1 Audi Sport Team Rosberg; 180 pts
RACE 11 (SATURDAY, 10 AUGUST)
The next double podium for Audi: René Rast finishes runner-up on the former English Grand Prix circuit. Nico Müller clinches third position. As a result, the Swiss defends his second spot in the standings behind Rast. For the tenth time in the eleventh race of the season, two Audi drivers finish in the top three. Wittmann (BMW) wins.
Drivers’ classification: 1 Rast (Audi); 178 pts
Manufacturers’ classification: 1 Audi; 634 pts
Teams’ classification:江苏11选5基本走势图 1 Audi Sport Team Rosberg; 239 pts
RACE 12 (SUNDAY, 11 AUGUST)
Historic dream result for the squad led by Head of Audi Motorsport Dieter Gass: all eight Audi cars occupy the top eight spots on the grid. The DTM has only seen this once before: at Budapest in 2016, also by Audi. On this “Super Sunday” of the brand, four Audi RS 5 DTM cars finish in front. René Rast wins ahead of Nico Müller, Robin Frijns and Loïc Duval.
Drivers’ classification: 1 Rast (Audi); 206 pts
Manufacturers’ classification: 1 Audi; 710 pts
Teams’ classification:江苏11选5基本走势图 1 Audi Sport Team Rosberg; 267 pts
RACE 15 (SATURDAY, 14 SEPTEMBER)
Maximum points scored by DTM leader René Rast following his seventh pole position and sixth victory of the season. With that, the German makes a giant leap towards his second DTM championship title. Nico Müller, Rast’s closest rival, goes home empty-handed after jump-starting and receiving a penalty. Jonathan Aberdein from the new customer WRT Team Audi Sport scores a strong fourth place.
Drivers’ classification: 1 Rast (Audi); 262 pts
Manufacturers’ classification: 1 Audi; 917 pts
Teams’ classification: 1 Audi Sport Team Rosberg; 349 pts
RACE 16 (SUNDAY, 15 SEPTEMBER)
Third position for René Rast behind the Audi RS 5 DTM cars of Jamie Green and Robin Frijns: that is enough for winning his second DTM drivers’ title ahead of time. Title rival and fellow Audi driver Nico Müller places sixth after problems in qualifying. Audi is also sure of winning the teams’ title. It will be decided amongst its Rosberg and Abt Sportsline teams in the finale at Hockenheim.
Drivers’ classification: 1 Rast (Audi); 279 pts – early champion!
Manufacturers’ classification: 1 Audi; 993 pts
Teams’ classification: 1 Audi Sport Team Rosberg; 394 pts
